What we see in Campbellford homes
Campbellford is forty-five minutes west of Belleville, on the Trent River in Trent Hills. It sits between Belleville and Peterborough, and it is far enough from both that it tends to get overlooked by the contractors in either.
The town has a compact older core built up around the river and the mill, with substantial housing from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Original wiring surviving in ceilings, undersized services, and the layered partial modernisation that comes with a century of ownership changes.
Riverfront and low-lying property brings the same damp-basement issues that Frankford has — corroded panel enclosures, deteriorated outdoor receptacles, and service masts that have rusted where they meet the roof.
Outside the town, Trent Hills is rural and includes a good deal of seasonal and waterfront property along the river and the Trent-Severn system. Those bring the cottage profile: services sized for occasional summer use now carrying more than they were meant to, and outbuildings fed by whatever was available at the time.
Getting to you
Forty-five minutes west of Belleville and one of the further points we cover. No travel charge, though we will group work in this direction where we can rather than making the trip for a single small job.
Booked work is usually within the week or two. Emergency response is a longer wait than in the city and we will give you an honest number.
What comes up most here
Panel upgrades and service changes in the older town housing, frequently including the mast and meter base.
Damp-related work. Corroded enclosures, breakers that have spent decades in a humid basement, outdoor receptacles that have failed.
Knob and tube in the older core, usually surfacing at a sale or an insurance renewal.
Seasonal and waterfront property, including cottage conversions and outbuilding supplies.
Generator transfer switches on the rural properties.
If you are on the river
Two things worth checking before they become a problem:
Where the panel sits relative to the water table. A panel at floor level in a basement that takes water in spring is a serious risk, and it is much cheaper to move it than to deal with what happens if water reaches it live.
Your sump circuit. If the sump is what keeps the basement dry, losing power means losing the sump. That is the argument for a generator that most people only make after the first time it happens.
